Track used again after wet break

FINALLY after two months of wet weather the Great Southern Kart Club was able to hold a club run last Saturday, August 2.

With a total of 45 nominations, the meeting got underway with the KT Lights class.

This was the biggest class again, with 14 drivers competing. There was plenty of hard and fast racing with Craig McIntyre proving hard to beat, followed by Bradley Maiolo and Trent Alers.

The KT Medium/Heavy class had 12 drivers in the field, so there was plenty of action in this class as well.

Joel Ettridge won the day easily, beating home Craig McIntyre and Paul Wettinger.

The 125 Open class was a more even contest, with a total of 13 drivers. Jamie Shuttleworth came out on top with a couple of blistering races, followed by Ryan Hawke and Troy Treasure.

In the Juniors class there were eight drivers competing. It is always good to see good fields of juniors, as they are the future of the sport.

Tyson Bryden won the meeting, followed by Emily Hubeck who was giving the boys a run for their money, and Aaron Clarke.

The Mixed class consisted of two KT Twins, two Outlaws and one 200 Open, as there were not enough numbers to make up a class.

Robb McDougall won the meeting overall from Thomas Davies and James Inglis.

On September 27 and 28, the Great Southern Kart Club will be hosting the Western Australian State Dirt Kart Titles, with several inter-state nominations received already. The club encourages people to come up and have a look.

Racing is on Saturday and Sunday, with admission free and the bar will be open from 4pm on Saturday.
