THE rain on Thursday afternoon was no deterent, as 17
keen bowlers turned up for the afternoon’s game.
Rink one saw Steve Hill, Annette Hefford and Phil Harris play out their 22 ends where Annette showed some good form as she has not played for some time.
Hill did well in scoring 31, another improvement on last week. Harris was the most consistent and went into the final with 53 over Hefford who finished on 48.
Rink two saw Ben Pearce, Denny Dunham, Ron Matters
and Diane Stephens play out the 18 ends with the men fighting hard for the lead and Stephens finding it hard to get a score at the halfway mark.
Pearce was on 14, Dunham on 15 and Matters on 17 with
Stephens on eight.
At the start of the last end Peace and Dunham were both on 29 and Ron on 28, then Dunham picked up five to go into the final on 34, with Pearce on 30, Matters on 28 followed by Stephens on 16.
Rink four saw Michael Deworboies, Martin Woods and Joe Ward play out a solid game with Deworboies and
Woods fighting for the lead.
Deworboies was on 28 and Woods on 25 at the first half, while Ward could not get into the game and the last half was the same with Deworboies going into the final on 54, three shots clear of Woods on 51 with Ward finishing on 27.
Rink five found Lisa Deworboies, Chris Lowrie, Mary Riseborough and Ken Mears having an interesting contest where no player failed to score on no less than eight occasions.
Riseborough went into the final on 40, ahead of Mears on 26 with Lowrieon 24, while Deworboies could only manage 18.
Rink six with Les Farmer, Ross Hunt and Bernie Welland was a good contest between Farmer and Hunt, with Hunt scoring 13 in three ends to snatch the lead and go into the final with 51. Farmer finished on 48 and Welland scored 33.
The four-end final was between Phil Harris, Michael Deworboies, Ross Hunt, Mary Riseborough and Denny Dunham.
Harris blew them away in the first two ends scoring nine, with Hunt needing six in the last end to force a play-off, but could only manage five to be declared the runner-up on eight, while Harris was
declared the winner on 10.
Scroungers will be on again on Thursday afternoon, with names to be in by 1pm for a 1.30pm start.
