LAST Thursday was a perfect day for bowls and with 18 players the game got off to a good day of bowls.
Leanne Cook, Denny Dunham, Lisa Deworboies and Neriday Monck had a great contest on rink one.
Denny jumped out to score 27 for the half then Leanne and Lisa started to claw their way back while Neridah found it hard to get multiple scores, only scoring 14.
Denny went into the finals on 38 with Leanne next on 30 and Lisa finishing on 26.
Rink two found Steve Trowl, Ron Matters and Ken Mears fight it out over the 22 ends where Steve proved the most consistent to progress to the finals with a total of 55. Ron tried hard in scoring 44 while Ken could only manage 33.
Rink three saw Ross Hunt, Ben Pearce and Max Wilson, who has returned from another visit to Queensland with his wife Norma.
Ross was in good touch and, scoring halves of 29 and 28, went into the finals with a total of 57 over Ben on 47. Max handled the new surface well for a total of 28.
Rink four saw Janette Draper, Diane Stephens and Jette Jacobs play out the 22 ends where Diane proved to be the most consistent by scoring every end for a place in the finals with a total of 63.
Jette was next with her highest personal score of 52, and Janette found it hard to get a score and could only manage 17.
Rink five was the best contest of the day between Bernie Welland, Norma Wilson and Michael Deworboies, where at the halfway mark only three points separated first and third.
It went that way through the second half with the final scores Bernie 43, Norma 44 and Michael on 45 to go into the finals.
Rink six with Mary Riseborough, Les Farmer and Steve Hill saw Mary and Les take the game away from Steve with Mary having halves of 29 and 28 and Les 27 and 26.
Mary advanced to the finals with 57. Les was next on 53, while Steve found it hard to get into the game only scoring 22.
After the cards were checked, it was time to play the semifinals with Ross Hunt, Steve Trowl and Denny Dunham in the first semi.
Dunham scored a three-four-four in the first three ends and Steve and Ross shared the points in the last but they could not overtake Denny, who went into the final on 11, with Ross on eight and Steve on five.
The second semi went in the same way, with Diane Stephens, Mary Riseborough and Michael Deworboies on the green, where Michael outgunned the girls to score ends of five-five-two-two for a total of 14 with Diane on eight and Mary on two.
In the two-end final Denny Dunham blew Michael out of the water scoring six in the first and five in the second to be the winners on 11, with Michael being runner-up on one.
Scroungers will be on again next Thursday with names to be in by 1pm for a 1.30pm start.
