IT was reported in last week’s Wagin Argus that Ken Adams had a blistering 36 off the stick for his last nine holes.
This week Adams lifted his game to another level, when he set a new course record with a magnificent three under the card 69 off the stick for the 18 holes.
Adams’ 69 off the stick equates to 46 stableford points, making him a runaway winner of the Duncan and Crosby sponsored stableford competition played on the weekend.
The highlight of Adams’ round was a brilliant eagle on the 479-metre par five 14th hole; his drive cleared the corner of the dog leg, a great second shot ended up on the green and the way Adams putts the eagle was a formality.
Gary Flint, who has been going through a quiet period with his golf, picked up the A grade runner-up trophy with a fine 42 points
.
Troy Watt, on 42 points, was a narrow winner of the B grade from Jeff Riseborough on 41 points on a count back from promising junior Jason Retallack.
Riseborough had a big 25 points on his first nine holes, Retallack had an even better nine coming in with 27 points and then 14 points on the next nine.
Peter Jenkin had a fine 27 points on one nine, but fell in a bit of a hole on his next nine, only returning 13 points.
The ladies’ competition winner was Gwen Bosenberg.
The novelties went to Ken Adams two including the Midalya Award, Jason Earnshaw, Craig Svenson and Ken George got the Galts nearest the pin.
A reminder to all golfers that all mobile phones are to be switched off during play, there are no exceptions.
A sincere thank you to Duncan and Crosby (Ross Wheeler) for their generous sponsorship.
There are open days at Katanning and Williams next weekend.
Next week’s competition is a par sponsored by CSBP. There will be a draw for partners from 11.45am.
